James Creek Riparian Restoration Project

Removing invasive plants and amending soil

image5

As a result of the September 2013 flooding, JCWI secured funding through the Healthy Rivers grant sponsored by the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

Site preparation scarified the soil and helped remove invasive cheat grass

Initial post-flood fill at these sites where houses once stood introduced invasive grasses

Plant species were selected for their appropriate use in the riparian environment.

Planning and landscape design were integral to the implementation.

Volunteers contributed many hours in the planting.

Several volunteer work days provided a great hands-on experience resulting in a much improved area.
